- Music stand supports open lid
- Casewoods are the customers choice but I would
suggest elm. oak, cherry, walnut, beech (these timbers vary very much in price and will
affect the cost of the finished instrument)
- Casework is 1.2 cm thick with upper mouldings
- Stressed top surfaces and wrest planks are beech
- Sub structures are pine or fir basically in three
layers of base frame, base board and a massive upper brace bar, hitch rails and a balance
rail
- Surfaces can be chosen by the customer but common
surfaces are African Blackwood for the long and yew for the short keys
- The Keys are undercut and no balance weights are used
- The tangents are of sheet brass
- Balance pins are threaded brass
- Keytail guide pins are threaded brass
- Keytail bearings are leather
- Strings are iron in the treble, brass in midrange and
overspun brass in bass
- Pitch preferably old, but can take modern
